This is one classic that shouldn't be tarnished by an unnecessary sequel.
I can't be the only one who feels a great stir in the heart when that commercial plays where they bring E.T. and Elliot back together. Though I generally dislike sequels made long after the prior movie(s), it might work if overseen closely by Speilberg himself and the true passion is there from everyone involved.
