If ever a movie deserved a sequel, it was this

The UFO phenomenon is so rife at the moment, and Drew Barrymore should star as they meet ET again, and he takes her on a ride to his home.

That would be fabulous to watch.

Ok so how about a dark sequel. Elliot is all grown up and isn't living the best life. He's addicted to drugs and he has never amounted to anything. E.T. returns and finds him and in the process reconnects the telepathic bond with him. Only this time E.T. wants to experience evil.

E.T. introduces Elliot to some kind of space peyote (he's a botanist after all) and Elliot is addicted immediately. E.T. makes Elliot do horrid acts to people in trade for more space peyote, and E.T. gets high off of the evil acts.

The movie ends up with Elliot smashing himself in the head over and over again with a hammer to break the connection, and ultimately kill E.T. while sacrificing himself for the good of mankind.

You go darker than I imagine.

That's what she said?

No.

Spielberg did write a sequel called E.T.2 : Nocturnal Fears, a much darker movie.

Mr. Spielberg decided not to make it because he thought a sequel would rob original of it's' "virginity".

Yes and no. Everybody most definitely wanted to see ET return in a sequel. But then nobody wants it to ruin the original either. I guess if they did now, the kids would be grandparents by now. Sad thought. But I guess it would be the grandkids that have the adventure with ET this time around. Or they can have the second generation as teenagers and they could be the ones having the adventure with ET.

I would support this, if for anything, to enable Drew to make enough $$$$$ off a sequel so she could drop her lame talkshow
