Did anyone see the Xfinity commercial?

It was only 4 minutes, but it was soooo sweet! ET comes to visit Elliot again 37 years later, and Elliot's kids are the first to find him hiding behind a snowman, hehe. So you get to see the family hanging out with him and having fun, both indoors using our current tech toys, and outdoors while sledding and riding flying bicycles.

Seems both Elliot and ET did well for themselves. Elliot's married with two kids, and apparently moved to a very snowy place, and ET has a mate and a child.

You guys should really watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pdgk3ERKdug

They even got the same actor to come back and play the adult Elliot!

I teared. For a commercial it was very well done.

It was very well done. I'm not ashamed to say I cried a little.

reply

(sniff!) Damn!

And again, John Williams' music did the job.

reply

Nice one! I had the opportunity to speak a little bit with Henry Thomas in December in Dortmund.

reply

Lucky. He's underrated.

It was great. Reminded me of how good commercials used to be; before they all tried to replicate idiotic, "meme" type, random humor.

It's one of those rare commercials you can't help but smile at, and remember amongst all the millions of stupid, annoying, lame commercials that inundate us every year.

When I first saw that commercial when it came out, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, my chest tightened, my eyes teared up and I wanted to cry from happiness. It was incredible. It still gets me when we see older Elliot's face when he sees ET.

But as much as we want more ET, like a sequel, it will be something we will regret. Unless a miracle can occur, I don't think anything could be done to capture that magic like that again.

I like the Xfinity commercial because it had exactly what we would have wanted to see, short as the story was, and it was directed by none other than Spielberg :D We didn't need a whole movie anyway.

reply

That was Beautiful.. I think I have something in my eye.. Sniff sniff

The original movie makes me feel the same way.
