Jennifer is at the foot of her mother's bed

The scene where Jennifer appears at the foot of her mother's bed. Still scares me a little bit.

I saw this movie years ago when I was younger, and searched for it for years, not knowing the title, just caught it on television one night (about three in the morning actually) on a school night and could not remember the name. But the scene that scared me the most, and still sticks out clearly in my mind, is Jennifer's freakish smile. It scared the hell out of me then, it is weird that a little girl smiling could be so scary.

me too...not ashamed to admitt it. As hokey as this movie was they sure picked the right little girl for the part: she was creepy.

A bit?! Jesus, I was traumatised by that scene for years

Ya know its fantastic and weird most people remember seeing this movie. and it works or worked cos when we were younger we saw films we weren't suppose to?

I think it's fair to say if somebody saw this film and that said point balnk to your face no matter who or where they come from, that they aren't scared or creeped out by this film. They are lying?!

Pity pictures can't be put up on IMDB.com direct as i'm not sure to check out any links to this film. i remember it being shown in 1984 years ago and gues what, this film "power" to creep or scare was so good i have memories of it today very vague ones but enough to remember this creepy little film from years ago.

AND I ONLY SAW IT ONCE AND ONCE ONLY!!!

Yeah thats ho good it was. If i saw it again today i'm not sure if it would have stood the test of 20 plus years. But yeah, it was a creepy film if not a little weird and spooky. Show this to a bunch of 5 to 10 year olds and they might be in for a surprise thinking nothing can scare them!

Nope you couldn't see or hear the name 'Jennifer' after this film for a few days/weeks!

But i always wondered, what happened at the very end. Isn't Jennifer a ghost after all, she couldn't harm her mother cause she couldn't touch her?! She had her sister kill everyone else?! Guess she scared old 'mother' to death cos she wasn't the supernatural demon kind of ghost with powers in the end, just a vengeful spirit, mad enough to come back and manipulate the sister into doing her bidding to seek revenge.

Didn't her sister tchnically kill her anyways? By tying her shoelace as a prank and then the car skid and crashed! I've even heard there are two endings with the last shot at the end of the bed? One with the creepy smile, the other with "glowing eyes"!

I'm sure a remake is on the cards cos (hollywood running out of original ideas) everything being remade. but this flick won't lose itimpact on a generation nearly two decades ago so i doubt if any remake would do justice to this small but well shot film.

Funny enough on two films ar scary but i don't have'em in my collection.

The Omen

And Don't go to sleep!

Good as this is i'm surprised i haven't seen it in 22 old years again, then again i'm also thankful. Some weird creepyness sinks in even if you're now all grown up.

I think Jennifer's eyes kind of burn into the viewer with an evil smile that shakes up the audience. I don't believe there was an alternate shot of that part. People just remember it differently.

This film also freaked me out when I was a kid and saw it on TV when it first came out. It's definitely one of the best made for TV horror flicks out there...others include Wes Craven's "Chiller", a movie about cryogenics and its possible after effects, and "The Midnight Hour", a great Halloween movie (funny how they all were made/came out at around the same time, early to mid 80's...sometimes it's great to know I grew up in such a great time).

The thing that freaked ME out most about the film was that they actually showed the death of kids my age. For example the brother, played by Oliver Robins, being pushed off the roof by the opening window only for the director to cut to the mom dropping a rather ripe watermelon on the floor (and, the subsequent funeral scene in which his casket is lowered into the ground, but half is accidentally dropped, completely destroying any semblance of strength Valerie Harper's character had). Or later, when they showed the flashback of how the sister died in the car accident. (BTW, I think it was actually the brother who tied her shoelaces together). Of course, Dennis Weaver's death was freaky too...but how stupid was he to have a radio perched on the side of the bathtub anyway? Jackass!

But yeah. Very freaky movie. I wish they'd release it on DVD in a wide release so that it's actually available everywhere...not just on ebay.

I saw this movie numerous times as a kid. After the first few times, I would turn off the t.v. just before the ending. I really liked Valerie Harper's character. I would make up my own ending in my head to save her!

bscribe,

When we eventually do get to do the remake, the end will be different. The whole movie will be updated, of course, and given the adrenaline shot that a feature film needs.
