Whatever happend to the planned remake?

Did that fall through or what? The remake could kick ass if done correctly.

Honestly I hope it doesn't ever get made - EXCEPT - that a remake would probably convince the owners of the original film to release it on DVD. As much of a cult following this thing has, it really is crap. But it's a good kind of crap like The Car. It's a guilty pleasure. And besides, for a remake - I challenge you to find anyone anywhere who could match the creepy grin on Jennifer at the end of the film. It's classic.

Just as long as they don't cast Dakota Fanning.

Also, they better not go the PG-13 route. That will totally destroy it!

I would have to admit, that I hate remakes at the best of times and I hope that they don't ever remake this classic.

But if there was gonna be a remake of Don't go to Sleep, one young actress that could do the role of Jennifer any justice would be Isabelle Fuhrman.

If you don't believe me, check out the roles she played as Esther in the movie Orphan (2009) and quite recently as Clove in The Hunger Games (2012).

These two roles would separate her from other actresses going for that same role. Because I totally agree with you XtroTerrestial, Dakota Fanning doesn't have the scare factor to pull it off. Isabelle Fuhrman does.

You realize when you posted this, Isabelle Fuhrman is 18 years old, don't you? Not much of a candidate to play a 12-13 year old girl.

reply

Error_PC_LOAD_LETTER that is a very interesting point that your saying about Isabelle Fuhrman.

But you seem to have overlooked one thing, Jennifer Lawrence is 24 and she is playing a 16 to 18 year old in The Hunger Games Movies and doing a very good job of it.

Let's not forget that Isabelle played a 30 year old psychopathic dwarf in Orphan when she was 12 years old and did an excellent job in that role.

So why couldn't Isabelle play the part of Jennifer in this remake? (if it ever happens) why should age be a barrier in roles like this one? You do have actors and actresses who do play characters younger than they actually are.

One other thing Isabelle is actually 17 at the moment, Not 18. I'll let you do the math.

If you don't think Isabelle Fuhrman would make a good candidate, who would you put instead, Mr casting agent.

If it gets remade, I want Jennifer Aniston in Valerie Harper's role as the mom. They are my 2 favorite actresses, and of course Jen has a horror-movie history with Leprechaun.
