There have been a few creepy made for tv movies. Which creeped you out the most between these?

Dont be Afraid of the Dark

The Woman in Black

Trilogy of Terror

All seem to have a great affect on people in tis time period. What's yours? If you have another that creeped u out more than the 4 listed please feel free to post...maybe I havent even seen it and would interested to.

Btw if you can find it, if you wanna see a creepy 5 minute movie about a killer doll from teh 80s watch 'The Dummy' It was during USA's up all night. Excellent camera work, suspense, music and overall creepiness of a doll all done in 5 minutes.

Problem is, I haven't seen those other titles. The only one (besides this one) that remotely creeped me out was The Deliberate Stranger, the Ted Bundy tv movie from 1986. They used what they could -- a good performance and insane music -- to get the suspense they needed.

A couple of cheats would be "Nightmares," from 1983. That was intended for tv but released theatrically; still plays like a tv movie, though. Then 1980s "Watcher in the Woods," technically rated PG, but a Disney movie, so very tv-ish. That one has possessed kids, tree branches that hold you underwater, violent wind and eclipses. Pretty eerie for a Disney flick.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981) is my personal favorite. It really did scare the pants off me when I was a kid. Overall, I think it's the single best horror film made for TV.

But the floating vampire kids in Salem's Lot were the only truly horror-inducing moment of my childhood television-watching experience. That was the first time I actually felt like I was watching something "evil."

But Dark Night is a much better film than Salem's Lot, and it's even a better story (Sorry, Mr. King).

I have to go with DBAOTD but these are all fine choices...I think DBAOTD was "my first" if you will and you never forget your first.

Another TV movie mentioned here that I'd love to see again is "Satan's Triangle."

The scenes where you hear the sound of the drowning kid and the utterly pale woman in black walking across the old churchyard made me sleepless for weeks after first time I saw it (I was ten or something). Brutal story.

"Dark Night Of The Scarecrow" is a great recommendation.

Some others I recommend:

"A Taste Of Evil"

"No Place To Hide"

"Shattered Silence"

Does anyone else feel that the TV movies of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s are way better than what made for television movies produced since? There are some exceptions, (like "Anne Frank"), but that's how I feel about it.

I totally forgot about Dark Night of the Scarecrow...I remember a scene in a movie about a man being buried in a grain silobut didn't realize it was this one.

Burt Offerings

Salem's Lot (1979) - I actually think the 2004 version is better and more faithful to the book, but it doesn't have anything scare-wise on Tobe Hooper's '79 version.

GhostWatch - While it wasn't exactly a "movie," this TV "special" freaked people out in the UK in 1992, and still provides some great chills today.

The scariest ones i've seen are:

Salem's Lot(1979) Tobe Hoopers best film, much better than Texas chainsaw Massacre in my opinion. In fact, Salem's lot is probably my favourite film of all time.

The War Game(1965?) & Threads(1984) Two films dealing with the effects of a nuclear war. Truly terrifying but also very depressing, but both are must see movies nonetheless.

Whistle And I'll Come To You(1968) A forgotton gem! Jonathan Miller's adaptation of the M.R. James classic ghost story. Very creepy, very well made and an ending that not only shows a reaction of fear but also a realisation and the start of acceptence of what has just been witnessed. Very very impressive.

Incidently, and I may be wrong about this, but I suspect that "Whistle And I'll Come To You" was the inspiration behind another great scary TV Movie, "The Woman In Black".

It wasn't scary (although it was supposed to be a ghost story) but "The Bermuda Depths" was very memorable in its made-for-tv glory. Giant turtle. Apollo Creed drowning. Scary eyed woman. Wooooo!
Also "This House Possessed"-the memory of the shower & swimming pool scenes creeped me out for years.
Back in the day-before cable was common-we 'depended' on network tv stations to entertain us. And they did!
Oh, and to whomever posted about "The Dummy" from USA Up All Night? Holy *bleep*-scariest. short. ever. It's the reason why, to this day, I have a clear shower curtain. Ain't no dummy sneaking into my bathroom while I'm washing my hair.

Bad Ronald (1974), hands down. I was only 6 and my sister was 8 when it originally aired, and we had no business watching it, but there we were!

I never saw it again until late in 2010(?? approx) on YouTube, and it scared me just as much as it had when I was a kid. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

The book is extremely hard to come by, but my sister found it on Amazon (for $75!!), and bought it for me for Christmas last year. I stayed up that night until 2:00 am reading it. I had to force myself to stop at page 93 and go to bed.

ANOTHER GOOD MADE FOR TV MOVIE is "Trilogy of Terror."

I too have seen "The Dummy!" The part under the door made me jump so bad! Never watching that one again.

I will be sure to check out some of the recommendations in this thread - my thanks to you.

"The Night Stalker" with Darren McGavin is not only the scariet made for tv movie ever made, but one of the scariest movies ever made, PERIOD.
