ULP

A couple of times - forgotten in what context - the guys referred to "ULP". The University of something, something? Anyone have a clue what they were talking about?

reply

I'm pretty sure they're saying U of B. University of Baltimore.

reply

^Nope, that one they called "UB".

ULP (Upsilon Lambda Phi) was a high school fraternity. HS frats were popular in the 50’s and were basically sports and social clubs. They would play each other’s sports teams and plan dances and events with the various HS sororities that were also popular at the time. A lot of guys met their wives that way.

^Thank you so much. It didn't occur to me that it might be a fraternity.

Do American high schools no longer have fraternities?

reply

Some still exist but I think they're pretty rare these days.
