Is this really Art Modell. I just saw the play at Signature in Shirlinfton Va and there was a commentary that Modell later had 200+ stores. Not sure if this is a true reference

It is not Art Modell and it is not the Modell of Modell's Sporting Goods. Most of the Diner characters are amalgams of friends that Barry Levinson had growing up.

The real "Boogie" did go on to open the famous mall chain of clothing stores called the "Merry-Go-Round".
