I have rented this movie at a blockbuster store. I know a company that can find any video you want even if they have to search for the video, but they start off with $30 to $1000 (even if video is used). It goes up to $1000 because they may have to search all over for you. Try looking in a 1-800 phone book at your local library and look under video (for mail order companies). I have looked for this movie too because it is good, but I am not trying to pay a lot for it. Usually, I eventually find hard-to-find movies at some point of time. If I do find this one, I will let you know.

Are you sure you want to see it? This is not a movie for people who dislike B-Movies. Lots of bad acting and dialogue. And this movie is based on a book? I haven't read the book, but I have my doubts that the movie is anything like it.

Then again, if you're a splatter movie fan (Like me), you should have an ok time with this flick.

I enjoyed this movie as a cheesy B-movie, but wouldn't pay $20 for a commercial cassette or DVD of it. I recorded my copy off cable TV. I got a kick out of a couple of scenes where the rats were shot by a pistol; the gun fires, then you see a stuffed rat get yanked up in the air by some wires, bwa ha ha! I've read that the rats are played by dachsunds in rat costumes. As for the book, I think this movie is very loosely based on James Herbert's book "The Rats," which is a lot darker story than this movie. In the book, the super rats are huge, the size of cats, and through most of the book, one bite from one of them is fatal. P.S. You will notice that in the movie theatre scene, the movie being shown is a Bruce Lee movie called "Game of Death," which isn't surprising, since that movie was also directed by Robert Clouse just a few years before this rat movie.

If I didn't know it was based on the novel I couldn't tell from watching it.

I gotta tell everyone that this was a whole bunch of fun to make. They put dog food behind our ears to get the dogs to "eat" us.

For all the ASPCA and PETA folks out there you'll be glad to know the dogs were treated WAY better than the humans. They were in the rat suits for only 20 minutes at a time, the heads came off when they weren't being filmed, and the dogs worked only 2 hours at a time and then were sent off to air conditioned kennels. the humans worked 16 hours straight and were herded around like bales of hay.

I did enjoy being thrown down a flight of stairs and through a stained glass window.

Who were you in this flick, STOMPY? Now I HAVE to find a copy of it so I can watch it and watch you get tossed around and abused!

On the credits listed, George was the first victim.

Just yesterday I found Deadly Eyes on VHS for $1 in a tiny town at a restaurant(!) that was selling off videos from an old store. I nearly crapped my pants I was so happy. I saw this movie about 6 years ago on the satellite.

George, please could you recall any other fun facts, behind the scenes info about this movie, I really enjoy it. What was Lesleh Donaldson like? I think she was beautiful in Happy Birthday to me.

Anything else you remember about filming, changes in the script, deleted scenes, etc, thanks

Well I was just one set for 2 days-not much to tell

Sam Groom was a really nice guy. The dogs were treated like stars and the humans just had to fend for themselves

Well I got thrown through a stained glass window, down a flight of stairs, trampled by teenagers, and had dogfood and corn syrup blood put on my face so the dogs would eat it and it looked like the rats were devouring the survivors

I was in all the theatre scenes near the end.

Basically you can see me watching the flick and then getting eaten by the rats later.

I had 2 big sequences that seem to have been edited down-I got thrown down a flight of stairs and through the window of the movie house...

I was in the theatre scenes and we had to watch a 10 min clip of Bruce Lee and Karim fighting over and over for about 12 hours

There must be copies around. I bought my own copy of DEADLY EYES on VHS a few years back. Still haven't gotten around to having it converted to DVD, but I know I didn't spend any more than $10 for the VHS.

I have a really old VHS copy, and I converted it to DVD-R, and I am completly happy with that, as I know it will never be released officially.

It might be only here in Canada, but I found a VHS copy pretty easily just poking around hock shops. My copy cost me 2 dollars and it's in decent shape, despite some tracking problems. Don't believe the score here on this site the movie is decent. It is total B movie mind you and has some major pacing problems (the second act could turn you off), but the bits of gore are well done for the time and the acting is above average for these kind of films.
