The Criterion Collection Will Release 'DANTON' in '09

It is official:

Wajda's 1983 masterpiece is #464 on the Criterion DVD library in a 2-disc special edition with new interviews and a (hopefully) high definition trasnfer.

The street date is March 31, 2009 and they are taking pre-orders

While I'm really glad to see criterion releasing this & many others (releasing more & more titles), I'm getting more & more annoyed that they're not releasing many (particularly this one) on Blu-Ray.

..perhaps later for blu-ray?...but you know at this point it's high time that this film has made its appearance in any format so I'm grateful for that...

i've seen the new dvd and it's great. amazing film. depardieu and the other lead (the polish actor whose name escapes me) are AMAZING.
