A Highly Underrated and Overlooked film.

This film was in my IMDB recommendations. The French Revolution is an interesting thing so I decided to give it a shot. An excellent movie. Great research and historical detail, the costumes were authentic and the acting was superb - I can see why Gerard Depardieu is regarded as France's best actor. There's a lot in there for discussion, but I don;t have the time right now. Check it out.

I'm not sure the portrayal of the events and characters is highly accurate history-wise. I don't know if the creators took artistic license, I'd rather they didn't. I Elizabeth R may be an example of a historical drama that holds true to the known facts and their plausible ramifications. Depardieu is more of a celebrity than an actor, there wasn't a point in the film when you watch him and say "Oh, this is Danton". In fact you see Depardieu all the time. Might as well buy a glossy magazine with his face in it.
