compleat beatles dvd???

does anyone have any information on whether this will be released on dvd any time soon. I saw this documentary in my History Of Rock and Roll class and it was fantastic! By far the best Beatles documentary ever! But i really don't like VHS and i was wondering if this will come to dvd?

I am also waiting for the Compleat Beatles to be released on dvd.

It's my understanding that it will never be released on DVD because it's been said that the Beatles Anthology DVD Box set has sort of replaced it. I love the Compleat Beatles as well. I got it the week it was released and I still watch it all the time. I think it's great and I've been looking for it on DVD forever then I finally bought the Anthology which is much more in depth because it's ten times longer but I still have a soft spot of the this one.

While Certain docs-such as the Anthology set-Have somewhat rendered this one Superflous, I do have to agree that The Compleat Beatles is highly recommended as a VERY good starter documentary for the beginning fan, and I can say that from firsthand experience.

In 1985, At the Age of 11, an aspiring musician and musicaholic, my vague awareness had-for no reason at all-become full-fledged fandom after I bought a cheap compilation LP from a cutout bin at Wal-Mart. And with the purchase of the Red hits lp(1962-66), My inquiring mind wanted to know more about these guys.

Thus, my Dad rented The Compleat Beatles and copied it to another tape which also included Give My Regards to Broad Street(as recorded off Showtime).

Over the next 3 years, I proceeded to wear that tape to its capstans I loved it so much.

And though I later discovered that certain other important aspects of their story had not been covered in this Doc, and the sound and picture quality were questionable, I still can't see why it shouldn't eventually come to DVD. Hell, I'd buy it all over again, just to have a reminder of where it all began for this second generation fan, which I remain and forevermore will be!

I first heard of this from an ad that was inserted in the
"Red" & "Blue" LPs (Yes, Vinyl LPs says the old timer) the first
Beatles albums that I bought.
I was able to record it when is was on my local PBS station
during a pledge drive and had watched it many-many times.
It was a very crapy copy as it was recorded off air, cable
was not available in my area at the time but I enjoyed it very
much just the same.
A few years ago I bought the VHS release and had been waiting for
a DVD but that will never happen with the Anthology set being out.
A few months ago I got ahold of the Laser Disc and transfered
it to DVD and now I can again watch it over again, as I enjoy
it much more than the Anthology, it is just more easy going
with out all of the deep detail.

the whole thing of it being "replaced" by the Anthology is sheer bollocks. Were they made and distributed by the same company? Who owns the rights? There are a ton of DVDs on the Beatles on the market. Why not this one as well?

I have to agree with the previous comments. I watched the first two parts of the Anthology when they first aired in 1995. I found them enjoyable but far too long. And the price tag on the DVD set is too high. The Compleat Beatles was a two hour capsule of the Beatles' highlights. I love this band and have been a fan since I was 9 years old. And the Compleat Beatles was the best doc I've seen. My VHS copy snapped several years ago and I presumed (foolishly I guess) that they would release this on DVD. Who owns the rights to the 80s MGM catalog? Warner Brothers? Get this thing on DVD now. Especially since all of the Beatles CD remasters were released this week.

Dude means nice guy. Dude means a regular sort of person.

Agreed!

While the Anthology is an impressive piece of work, going into quite a bit of detail, "The Compleat Beatles" is the perfect introduction to the history & importance of the band. It packs quite a lot into its 2 hours, and anyone just getting into the Beatles for the first time would find it informative, engaging, and providing a solid foundation for learning more.

I have it on DVD.
