I'm with you, shalise-begum. Between the weird accents and the actors whispering or mumbling half the time, I could barely tell what was going on.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

What weird accents? They were all from Texas, so I'm not sure what you mean. Yes, problems with hearing some of the words, and I think part of it was "by direction" to make it more dramatic. Turn the sound up next time. The Blu-Ray cleans up some of the graininess of the 16MM filming but yet retains the way Robert Altman wanted it to look. It is supposed to look "dated" for a reason.
