I think Jimmy Dean (Jr.) is normal. After all, why else would he know how to drive a sports car he's never seen before?
I think Mona liked being "special". So she claimed her son was retarded or a moron so people would feel sorry for her. For some reason, she thought no one could figure it out if she never let him out of her sight. The official name is Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome.

Exactly! I started reading your post and thought Munchausen before I read to the bottom. I just saw it again on Blu-Ray, and it never fails to please. I would LOVE to see this re-released in the theaters that folks could be introduced to ONE GREAT MOVIE!
