Raquel Welch in Cannery Row ( photo)

I found this photo of her with Nick Nolte, I would like to have seen her version of Suzy, she looks great in the photo

So would I. The producers must've thought Debra Winger fit the part better with her tough sounding voice.

I'm glad that they went with Debra Winger. Raquel Welch is nice as eye candy, but that's about it, she never was much of an actress. The movie Cannery Row is quite uneven in quality to begin with, casting Welch would have made it complete high camp.

To begin with, call it Sweet Thursday where Suzy was a main character who didn't exist yet in Row. I'm still glad Raquel sued for breach of contract.

reply

Yes, the film would have been somewhat "campy" with Raquel Welch in the role of Suzy. Also, Raquel was in her 40's in 1982, so she was slightly too older for the role. Debra Winger was the right age and had the right look, too.

At no point in her career could I visualize Raquel as a working girl in that brothel

Having said that ---- I'm glad she sued and won
