Is he in the movie?

He is not. Someone called "Joseph and Mary" (Santos Morales) is running the grocery shop. Someone who doesn't thump his fingers on the counter but can direct the orchestra at the party.

Lee Chong is not. He was my favorite character. Sweet Thursday's Joseph and Mary Rivas is. But so much is out of Sweet Thursday they should just change the title of the film to that.

Agreed!

Lee Chong was a pivotal character in the book.....and his bland replacement in the film just wasn't up to scratch.
