Question for those who read the Steinbeck novel.

I love Steinbeck, but never got to this one.
I am watching the movie and don't think much of it.
They dialogue between Nolte and Winger seems very amateurish; the hooker and the scientist hate each other and then they love each other, etc.
Is the book better?

"It's the system, Lara. People will be different after the Revolution."

yes, the book is a great deal better. Steinbeck has a great style and his writing is famous for good reason. Definitely check the book out. Not a very long novel but his writing is very visual and narrative.

In this case the books are way better than this.
Other Steinbeck novels were well done in movies. This one I can't even watch.
We needed to get more of the feel of the guys from the camp site with Doc before she comes along....
