Let Dark Sky Films know you want BONNIE'S KIDS on DVD!!!

After a couple months of inactivity on their website, it looks like Dark Sky Films is still going ahead with their DVD releases. Their recent blog entry talks about some of their catalog titles that haven't been issued yet and they are asking for your feedback to help determine future releases.

"You may be asking, “But what about all those awesome catalog titles you’re sitting on, Dark Sky? Films like BONNIE’S KIDS, THE ROOMMATES, THE ONE-ARMED EXECUTIONER, THEY CALL HER CLEOPATRA WONG, DEATH SPA, and HORROR HOSPITAL?” Well, all ya gotta do is ask and if there’s enough of you wanting them, so it shall be done. Simple economics, eh? Email us and tell us you want these titles and more."

Somewhat unbelievably this is an accomplished, very well done, low budget movie. I thought it was just going to a T and A, B-minus exploitation flick but it's actually got a brain in its head. Although some of her dialogue is a little stiff at times Tiffany Bolling is a fantastic actor and the rest of the cast are all solid professionals. The production used its budget wisely, developing a good script, shooting on location, working in multiple characters and in general just never giving one a feeling of cheapness.

As i'm sure everyone knows at this point this film is a major reference point for Quentin Tarantino. The parallels to "The Bonnie Situation" episode of Pulp Fiction are readily apparent but an even bigger influence can be found in True Romance and it's tale of illicit stolen money and the pursuit that follows. Bonnie's Kids is as good or better as any early 70s exploitation movie. Highly recommended for fans of the genre and now available on blu-ray via Gorgon Video with The Centerfold Girls as the second half of the double feature.
