Rutger Hauer's Character is the only reason this movie is any good

a very forgettable sci fi movie

I enjoy the taste of lamb meat.

That is true - H. Ford did very little acting here - but then.... that's kinda true for most of the films. He can sell a movie with charisma, just like Arnold - but as far as acting with genuine charisma are concerned, R Hauer did a master class here. Having said that, I do think that picking a great movie is one of the key elements to building a legend around yourself as an actor. RHauer starred in many duds, while HFord starred in many huge hits.

Blind Fury is Good Split Second is fun

nah - ladyhawke is another film where RH does a masterclass, despite horrible soundtrack.

reply

yeah I forgot to Mention that one

My his favorite one is Flesh+Blood. I think it gets overlooked a bit. I keep rewatching it like every year.

I liked Nighthawks, Redline, and Blood of Heroes as well.

Watch him again when Rachel first comes to his apartment. His reaction is superb, repressed, understated.

Then again as he stands over the body of Zora after he killed her. Easy to see why he didn't want to be a Blade Runner anymore.

I’m going to mention The Blood of Heroes for Rutger’s CV: an AMAZING low-budget film with a David Webb Peoples script. The last line! “Walk . . . slowly.”

PS Nighthawks, where he took on Sylvester Stallone AND Billy Dee Williams.

The music courtesy Vangelis is also good.

Kinda true, every scene with Roy Batty is amazing. Mainly the “I want more life father/fucker” and the tears in the rain speech. If only the rest of the movie could have been as exciting as his character.

I liked the character Hauer played, he was interesting, but I can't say I loved his performance. It was decent enough. Like the film itself. I'm not on board with those who call this a masterpiece.

reply

An appearance by Hauer can make almost any movie acceptable. Even Turbulence 3.

Wrong. It's an aesthetic masterpiece.

Truly outstanding production design and OST.

It's a vibe, a great film to sit back, relax and soak up the atmosphere.
