F*cking Ridley Scott.

Why does he have to go back and destroy everything? Removing the fucker line, destroying Blade Runner with Teal and Orange filters, why?

It's alright, we still have the original versions on DVD/Blu. The Final Cut is a bit overrated but I don't hate it either. The teal color filter wasn't needed, just remaster it and that's it! Directors have been putting teal/orange in their old movies lately, James Cameron did it to Aliens/The Terminator/T2 just recently/ Ridley Scott also changed some filters on Alien as well.

A lot of older films (older than a couple of years) are being remastered for UHD Discs and for 4K streaming...

I really hope the people involved focus on fidelity to the original source rather than to do creative changes such as making things orange/teal or reducing the film grain... Most studios managed to get it right eventually with Blu-Rays, so i hope there continue as things progress to 4K streaming and UHD discs...

Hopefully these movies that have been changed are the exceptions...

Teal doesn't bother me that much but why do it? I'm still not convinced UHD 4K discs are going to be a huge success, the streaming and selling of 4KTVs seem to have a brighter future than the discs themselves. I do own a few though!

I think the orange & teal thing is an aesthetic choice left up to the filmmaker when making a movie, but I don't like the idea of changing the past to make it look like current movies, or just because the technology enables us to do so...

UHD 4K discs seems like they'll remain a niche product compared to regular Blu-Rays... But it is a niche I'm interested in for the newer movies made with that in mind. Streaming 4K is definitley more successfull as it is close enough for most people in terms of quality. I use both, as well as regular blu ray which still looks great when done right.

I just hope we don't get another generation of philistines that don't understand that some old movies are supposed to have some texture and not look like they're shot on a DSLR... 😉

Blu Ray is still pretty niche as well because I don't know anyone with Blu Ray other than myself lol. 4K is great for new movies but older ones don't really need it since they were never shot in 4K to begin with lol. HD is enough IMO for old movies, even those weren't meant for HD either.
