End of this message board coming

My fellow Blade Runner fan(atics) ─ I have some sad news to report. Apparently, IMDB has decided to shut down ALL of its message boards, including this one, as of Feb. 20, 2017: http://tinyurl.com/imdb2017

It seems they have concluded that these public message boards β€œare no longer providing a positive, useful experience.” I disagree 100%, but what can you do, except say:

"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

I'm sad about that too... but is there any chance it's some weird joke or maybe it's just temporary? It seems like imdb gets millions of clicks just from people coming to discuss movies, so why shut that down? Are they expecting that much traffic from trivia and movie times?

Maybe Facebook wanted the traffic? Throwing darts at the wall here...

I have to say that I haven't been posting nearly as much as a few years ago as I found that, unfortunately, the majority of the boards were just overpopulated with negative minded trolling of the 'this movie blows big time' mentality. Having said that, the 'Blade Runner' board was one of the few here that had a much higher level of discussion as a rule. It is very disappointing to see yet another good aspect of the internet being killed I think essentially as a cost saving measure and, possibly, from a legal standpoint, maybe IMDB is shutting down the potential for unnecessary litigation due to bullying? There's probably a variety of reasons at work here but I just wanted to say thanks to the fans of Blade Runner, I found this board to be of a better quality than any other I have come across in the 12 years I was a member.

Life is always intense for a repo man.

This was my thinking in the early 2000. Amazon came along cocking my membership so I had to re-apply 2006.
I think I was always knowing they did bad pan-cakes.

If anyone move; do not use Amazon pro-sub-sites like FB. There are many other gravely good film sites out there, and they will grow as this crumbles.
