Cocaine

"So I asked someone what's so great about cocaine. And he said, well it intensifies your personality...yeah, but what if you're an a**hole?"

And this is the only curse word Cosby uses in the entire concert.

reply

I know, but that is one incredibly funny line.

"I am the ultimate badass, you do not wanna screw wit' me!" Hudson in Aliens.

reply

That is unless you count "damn" later on in the show...lol

I mentioned this in another thread as my favorite moment!

I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person!

reply

As I recall, when this aired on the Disney Channel many years ago, the whole cocaine reference was removed. Of course, consider the source, but I found it to be extremely disappointing Disney would remove a great anti-drug line, even if it contains what might be considered a "drug reference" and a "curse word." It's funny, right on time, and doesn't overshadow the rest of the work!!

I've personally always loved the dentitst bit...."Flyber in my moubt!"

reply

Near the end of the show he says dammit and jesu$ chr!st.

In God WWE Trust

reply

Can you please refresh my memory as to where he says dammit and Jesus Christ because I really don't remember him using either of those words.

reply

The last "skit" on the show, where he talks about his brother Russell thinking his name was dammit. "Dammit will you stop all that noise?" "Je$us Chr!st sit down!" Heh heh.

So one day I'm out playin' in the rain, my father says "Dammit will you get in here?!" And I said "Dad, I'm Jesus Christ!"

reply

I remember now but Bill was using these words in the context of a story and not just as curse words.

reply

So jesus christ is a curse word? hmm...

So he was actually telling JESUS CHRIST to sit down... somewhere?

reply

I've seen a couple of Bill Cosby concerts and he has a habit of letting one curse word go every performance, almost as if he's saying "I don't need this to do my comedy, but here's letting you know I'm not afraid of it either".

The word of the day for the live show I saw was "sh!t" as in when his daughter failed out of the college he just donated a building to he asked "Did she sh!t her brains out?".

"Mr. Cosby, the good news is the dormitory is done, the bad news is so's your daughter..."

reply

To the extent that he doesn't even use the word "bastard" when talking about the birth of his first daughter.

"And then, on the next contraction, she proceeded to tell everyone in the room... that my parents were never married!"

reply

i think its funnier because he doesnt use the word bastard, but instead just merely explains its implication...
and yes, to many christians "jesus christ" is a "bad" word, because it is taking the name of their god in vain.

reply

No it isn't.

reply

Depends. If you use it as an exclamation, then it is a curse by definition.

For instance, someone sees you kissing your girlfriend in public and says "Oh Jesus Christ . . ." he is condemning the behavior, is he not? He's certainly not casting a blessing on the exchange and praying for a happy life for you.

Dammit is obviously a curse as well. Again, by definition.

Now on the other hand, if someone were praying, then Jesus Christ would be an acceptable thing to say, because of who you are addressing (assuming they are Christian).

As I said, it depends.

reply

It doesn't matter what the context is. It's not taking god's name in vain.

reply

To my knowledge, Bill only said the "F-word" once, but only when he was scolding Eddie Murphy for being to dirty. (watch Eddie Murphy: Raw)

Listen carefully to the line just before that one (at 7:14): "Sh!t, I do a few lines...." It's subtle but it's there.

I always thought he said: "Shoot, I did a few lines." I think you're right, he may have said: "Sh*t."

"I am the ultimate badass, you do not wanna `*beep*` wit me!"- Hudson in Aliens.

reply

Maybe, but I think the point is that after 30+ years if we have to replay it and listen carefully and strain to distinguish between sh;t or sheesh or shoot or whatever, it's not really significant. He's a great communicator, and although he mumbles occasionally, if he wanted us to hear it, we would.

Don't forget about the last part, where he talks about what he and his brother thought their names were.
