Dolly Parton's role

Her acting, as the madame, is some of the cutest (to use a crappy word that doesn't do it justice), most endearing time I've seen on screen. Usually, attempts to behave like this would not sell in film. I loved her from start to finish, though.

I think it's because she's not really an actress but she has natural presence and charm, so that mskes you feel for her and love her whatever she does, whether the role is believable or not.

I totally agree. It is hard to resist her charm. She is such a delightful person on and off screen.

It's ironic that she plays the madame to all these prostitutes, but she was actually the prettiest among all of them.

I would think more than a few gentlemen would request the services of the madame instead of her hires, and not just because of those obvious reasons.
