Does it show unentended flaws in the clay animation character with the picture clearer? Did they brighten up the picture because it was shot too dark originally.

reply

it is verry clean and clear also the color pallet is much richer more greens blues and reds in the lighting which apparently was always there but was unseen on older releases

they masterd it from the original 16mm negative rather than the 35mm blow up so the image is in 4:3 rather then being cropped but thay haven't over done it with DNR ether its pretty much an exact retraction of the 16mm master so it looks like you are watching that from a projector sure ther is some print damage but that was due to the fact thay trimmed a few frames hear and there from the master becouse when thay edited the film back in the day thay had shot it on NTSC US speed and edited it on a PAL editing station but dispite that its never going to look better

Thanx for that but I prefer the fullscreen format of this movie to the 4:3 aspect ratio. Will probably keep my DVD copy in that case...

Just got the blu ray special edition trilogy today from amazon, absolutely jam packed full of extras and cleaned up like a dream.

The sound and picture is amazing.

Proud addition to my collection.
