Widescreen DVD version sorely needed.
This film was shot 2.35:1, and yet there has never been a widescreen transfer available. It's about time for a fully restored version of this post-modern Western fable.

shareI'll second that... the cinematography is excellent, they sure can't use that for an excuse!
shareAgreed. I was so excited when the dvd started, I thought they had messed up and printed fullscreen by accident. Then after the opening credits when they panned in and killed the letterbox I died a little inside.
shareThe Australian DVD has great picture quality but sadly is just 1.33:1.
"Gentlemen, is this a great moment or a small one? I'm afraid I don't know."
The Australian DVD is worth it for the price. I've seen it for AUD$2.O0.
shareSo, "Barbarosa" is available on DVD in Australia but not in North America? (Even in the dreaded pan-and-scan format)? I don't quite get that one, although distribution deals and the acquiring of rights can certainly affect DVD releases. Still ... seems to me some enterprising company in the U.S. or Canada would want to take the chance.
This movie really needs to be made available to the public.
This is available in the US. There is a link to amazon right on the front page for this film right here on IMDB.
shareScorpion Releasing have just announced on their Facebook page that a widescreen release in both formats is forthcoming.
I am the Duke of IMDb bio writers! I am A#1!
Took way too long, but it's coming in august! Terrific film.
