It was amusing to look back at the overwhelming naivete of this period in America. MY favorite line was from the Dad in the fallout shelter while the family waited for the bomb to fall; "Kids, if there's an explosion we'll wait about a minute, then go up and see...".
Absolutely no concept of nuclear winter, radiation half-life, and the fact that if they did emerge after a minute, they'd be dead within 48hrs.
It was still amusing to watch the old "safety" films. "Get under your school desk so you can both be vaporized at the same time"
