Nuclear Fallout Test

There is a segment where it shows U.S. soldiers being given radiation badges and then being ordered to move towards a nuclear blast fallout as some type of experiment/test. Really goes to show you the government really doesn't give a crap about us or any of its soldiers. Does anyone know what these tests were called or where they were held? I cannot seem to find any information about these tests on the web.

It was an astonishing piece of footage. Having just finished watching Atomic Cafe, I found it pretty appalling what the public were fed. My complaints aside, others have said (in not so many words) it was the efforts of some rather shifty editing. I don't know.

Anyway, straying from your question, I return - here's a good link that you've probably found by now - I'm not sure if Operation Teapot is the one (of many?).

Truer word was never spoken, boy.

What's worse is that the government will, as a rule, lie, lie, and lie some more, and continue to lie, if it has anything to gain by doing so. Here's a link to what people in Utah went through in the era of atomic testing and how little the government cared about what happened to them, despite glaring evidence that Bad Things Were Afoot:

http://historytogo.utah.gov/utah_chapters/utah_today/radiationdeathand deception.html

What those people went through was mind-blowing. For example, sheep farmers were told by Atomic Energy Commission employees that their animals were suffering burns, lesions, loss of wool, premature death, and stillborn and mutant lambs as a result of malnutrition and that all these things couldn't possibly have anything to do with the atomic testing that had taken place in the area.

Same deal when leukemia, cancer, and genetic mutation started showing up in the general population there. Rather than making a genuine effort to help the people out that they had harmed, the government conducted a big PR campaign that included having scientists lie their collective asses off about the links between radioactive fallout and leukemia, cancer, etc. Worse, scientists who felt compelled to tell the truth about such things (or at least admit the possibility that the government had done great harm by conducting atomic testing out in the open) were eased out of their jobs for not parroting the party line.

The whole thing was awe-inspiring in terms of the size and scale of the falsehoods and deception. Attorneys for the Department of Energy (DOE) even went so far as to say that officials at the Nevada Test Site had no duty to warn the public of the dangers of the atomic tests!

I mean: wow.

I'm always reminded of something Kurt Vonnegut said about his experience in World War II and the aftermath. Vonnegut related a conversation he had had with a friend on a troop-ship coming back from Europe. Vonnegut asked his friend: “what did you learn from all of this?,” to which the other man replied: “never to believe your own government.”

Words to live by: they just don't care. You and I are nothing but meat to them and they'll get away with whatever they can given half a chance.
