Should they remake this?

I think this could be such a cool off-beat sci-fi with todays special FX and a bigger budget. The story is a lot better than some of the current original sci-fi releases. I remember being captivated by it ( along with movies like Saturn 3) and shocked by the twist near the end. Maybe I was more impressionable back then but certainly think todays producers and directors could do this movie a lot more justice.
