Hello, Where did you bought this movie, the uncut vrsion, and can you write a small review of the film???

The best place to buy it is online at www.cduniverse.com, it's like $20 after shipping. I never wrote a review on a film before, but I'm very surpise that it was able to be a offical release here in the US, since Brazilian star Xuxa had banned the movie before. I wonder if Xuxa is aware of this release???

Dear venom-c: I think the company you bought the DVD for LOVE STRANGE LOVE (un-cut!) from transferred the film from the Vestron Video VHS release. I don't think LOVE STRANGE LOVE has been seen in a very long time and I'd bet that no new film prints of this have been make. You may as well have stuck to your Vestron Video tape, at least it has some cool box art and that enigmatic description on the back >> A love that got too close and went too far <<

I'm betting the DVD was simply taken from the VHS. Nothing more.

I do have the Un-cut Vestron Video in my collection to watch when I want. One thing's for sure: I'm not letting anyone borrow it.

The DVD is now oop, which now fetches over $100 on ebay! Glad I got my copy in time :)

Dear Venom: Good that you got LOVE STRANGE LOVE in time. I can easily believe it goes for a pile of cash on E-bay.

I'd bet on one thing: There haven't been any new prints of this movie made in a while, esp. if Xuxa has anything to say about it!

Actually the new DVD isn't out of print, it's just hard to find. www.baikalfilms.com has a new copy. It's a real DVD not a DVD-R. It's not so expensive either.

Dear newamerican: I checked out baikalfilms.com in regards to LOVE STRANGE LOVE and noted these things:

It's a Region 0 DVD and not a Region 1,2,3 or 4 et al. so I guess it can be played all over (most of) the world.

The description that "baikalfilms" uses for the plot of the movie is the EXACT same description that's on the back of my Vestron Video box.

Note the movie is ENGLISH DUBBED like the Vestron tape. Wouldn't a truly original print of the movie be in Brazil's official language, which is Portuguese? Maybe it is a 100% legal release -- I wouldn't know for sure -- but it makes me wonder if they got a hold of the old Vestron Video and copied it. I mean, the movie was never released on video by any other company here in the U.S. Vestron did release an edited 97-minute version, but of course the only REAL version to find and watch is the un-cut 120 minute tape.

Maybe baikalfilms should drop Xuxa an E-mail and ask if she wants to buy a DVD of "Amor estranho amor" :)

I reckon I'll stick with my Vestron Video for now, especially 'cuz I don't have a DVD player. I'm just glad my tape is still playing well for me.

The DVD of LOVE STRANGE LOVE was release by Jeff films around last August, it is indeed the uncut version because I also have the 120 min tape by Vestron.

Dear venom: I've never heard of Jeff Films. What sort of operation are they? Did ol' Jeffy & Co. find a nice new film print of LOVE STRANGE LOVE or did they use the Vestron Video as their "master". Wouldn't surprise me if they did. If they did find a newer "un-cut" film print of the movie maybe I'd consider buying one.

. . . although my Vestron Video is still working hard for me. The picture quality ain't bad on my tape.

"Jeff Films" sounds like somebody's old mongrel dog that's been out all day and needs to come inside "Here Jeff! Here Jeff! Here Jeff Jeff Jeff . . . here boy!"

I can tell you LOVE STRANGE LOVE was never released in the U.S. on video in Portuguese with subtitles. Only on Vestron Video in the English-dubbed version. No letterboxing, either.

I don't think there is a version of LOVE STRANGE LOVE in Portuguese with English subtitles.

I'd really be surprised if such a version exists.

You are kidding. Its not a porn movie. The actors at the time were doing nude scenes in a lot of Brazilian productions. It was no big deal.
