Here's something that'll shock and disturb you all. Sibling incest is actually a lot more common than people think. I first saw this movie when I was really young, back before I even knew what incest was. When I saw what the brother and sister were doing in the movie, I was shocked since the possibility of sex between family never even occurred to me as even being possible. I was sickened and didn't know what to think about it, so I did some research, wondering why anyone would do something so disgusting (the brother was possessed, but the sister wasn't, so what's her excuse). Anyway, the research I did indicated that approximately 10% of all teenagers commit incest. 90% of these cases is due to sexual experimenting (that's still nasty), while the remaining 10% actually have romantic feelings for each other (wtf?). That means that if there are 6.2 billion people in the world, then about 620 million commit incest, blah! You may now go and vomit, I certainly did.

As I see it is nothing wrong with it if both are in on it. Ie sexual experimenting is one thing ok. I happen to know a twin couple (both males) who actually fall in love with eachother in their teens. They are fine to this day. We are still friends. It's more common than the actual public knows.

If both are the same gender, that's one thing (though it's still nasty), but if both are different genders, then the risk of having children that are deformed are much higher. The reason for this is because everyone has good genes and bad genes in their DNA. We're meant to procreate with others to introduce new genes for our children. Family members have DNA that is similar. So if children from family members are ever born, its more likely that the bad genes are kept in the family, resulting in deformity. Back when I was looking this stuff up, there was a case of brother and sister that had children (they were orphans and got adopted by different families and didn't know they were siblings when they met later on in life, but found out years after they were married). They had three children, and 2 of them were born crippled.

Factually speaking, there is no evidence incense is harmful to anyone if both parties are consenting adults and use protection. I have no interest in it, but I honestly don't care if anyone else does unless it's forced sex or a baby pops out as a result.

I'm never going to think it's cool. Never.

That's not to say I would be mean or unpleasant to a 'couple' who were *gulp* siblings, but I would be quietly incredibly uncomfortable.

It's interesting, I'm pretty open minded and liberal, I have no issue with age differences (so long as it's legal), same sex couples, people who are in relationships with more than one person (polyamorous), but incest just does my head in.

So put some spice in my sauce, honey in my tea, an ace up my sleeve and a slinkyplanb

I grudgingly agree though I would never encourage such a relationship. so with the added caveats, prepare for hateful people to judge you harshly and accept possible future damage to family relations.

You watch too many overblown cop shows. It's impossible to know how often incest goes on since it's such a private thing to begin with. The media is about ratings, not facts.

I like how people are labeled ignorant for not excepting something they deem wrong. This whole "except everyone's differences" thing is so out of control that it wont be long before pedophiles are able to get away with raping children. NO! siblings should NOT have sexual relationships and if they are, I guarantee there is some deep psychological issues that need to be dealt with.

Thank you,MovforFree...The psychology of the whole business is what interests me. A couple of little kids fooling around and exploring one another IS natural, up to a point. When those LITTLE KIDS start messing with each other SEXUALLY, then it's time to worry. Any kind of sexual "acting out", "experimenting", is considered a "learned behavior". Little kids don't "learn" that, unless they've been preyed upon. Little kids copy what has been done to them. Phew. I thought EVERYBODY knew that.

What ages are these "little kids"? I ask because the age of first exposure to pornography as well as simulated sex on television or in films is decreasing. If a 7 year old is "acting out" my first thought would be that porn or Game of Thrones is the culprit.

This movie WAS intended to shock...PROBABLY to draw attention AWAY from the fact that this "director" wanted to cash in on the AMAZING successes of "The Exorcist". Honestly...yeah...if one stops to observe...SOOO much is the same!
That was the only thing I was able to even FOCUS on throughout the entire movie! Right down to the pasty face of the "Demon" with its green,gloopy gunk around the mouth ,(pea soup, anyone?), and the crazy green eyes at the end...And let's NOT forget the "sacrificial priest "!

The movie wants us to find it shocking and transgressive, but I feel like it's the demon having sex with the sister. The demon picked what would most bother the mom . . . and God. It isn't really incest, though, because Sonny the brother isn't involved -- just his body.

And I agree that it's common for brothers and sisters (especially close in age) to play that game "show me yours and I'll show you mine"
My sister and I did it. Kids are curious and we were nine and seven. It's not like we thought of it as sexual.
But if it goes from looking to touching or sex well that's just too far!

Surveys done at several American universities have shown incest to be much more prevalent. One in four women have been the victims of consensual incest, including being subjected to visual incest. We can no longer afford to ignore incest culture.
