Is this part of an unofficial trilogy with The Warriors and Beverly Hills Cop?

James Remar and David Patrick Kelly were in The Warriors, which was also directed by Walter Hill.

Jonathan Banks was later in Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy.

All three of these movies were relased by Paramount.

No. Hill obviously liked Remar and Kelly as actors and used them again in 48 Hours. Directors often do this.

As for Jonathan Banks there is no connection, Hill did not direct Beverley Hills Cop, Martin Brest did.

Apart from anything else, all three movies tool place in different cities.

Well, I did say that it's probably an "unofficial trilogy". And with that being said, the scene in 48 Hrs. with Eddie Murphy in the redneck bar might as well have been a test run for Beverly Hills Cop. In other words, he was playing a black cop who has to cope in a white world.
