Eddie Murphy's racist comment

"I've never seen so many backwards ass country f__ks in my life. Makes me sick just to be in here. I'm not even a cowboy, but that crap was racist‼. If a white man were to go into a black bar and say "I've never seen so many n___ers in my life", he would get killed and even white audiences would say he deserved it.

Hpw come you're not complaining about all the N-words hurled at Hammond by white guys during the entire film, as well?

Dont bother, I know the answer.

reply

And I know you never took a course in logic.

reply

I'm white, but Eddie was correct there.

reply

Im also white and i agree with that!

As a spokesperson for whites, yes he was correct.

reply

all he racist things hurled by jack to reggie for damn near the entire movie and your complaining about that?

reply

Difference is Reggie Hammond was PLAYING a racist black cop to keep everyone intimidated

That was an intense scene, not only because he was bluffing the whole time, but because any wrong move would've gotten him killed, badge or no badge.

Curious: Exactly what "race" is "backwards ass country f__ks"???

reply

good call!

reply

Yes, it was racist.

That’s the point.

The entire movie is about racial expectations and identity.
I was fairly shocked back in 1982 — just what director Walter Hill expected.

This couldn’t be released in these times.

The entire movie is about racial expectations and identity.

I thought it was a buddy movie about a cop and a con

Stop making sense

It’s unfair to title this Eddie Murphy’s .... It was a character played by him. Actors play characters that may be very different from them. If an actor gets blamed for the actions of the character, very few movies would get filmed.

I miss when people weren't so sensitive.
There are a lot of "racist" jokes in this film.
Deal with it or move on.

reply

Yep. The dialog in 48hrs is priceless. Even the black police captain calls Hammond a N.

Point is 2 dudes from totally opposite backgrounds can come together. See how that works?

Today the left who run Hollywood are more concerned with dividing everyone into groups so they can label and virtue signal. Progressives have taken race relations backwards 50 years.

This scene(https://youtu.be/YXNLXLt8LIs?t=10), the one you were referring to, is one of my favorites.
It really shows how much they have grown to respect each other.
And what an asshole the Captain is. lol

reply

And, YouTube deleted the video.
The internet really sucks now. Corporations and governments are meddling with it. Soon it will be worse than watching TV.

reply

My best guess is that it was in the script - therefore, Murphy, as an actor earning a paycheck would say that with no issue. Also, who cares about the "n-words" and the "hicks" and all that shit? This is what movies were like back in the day before the Cunt Brigade came to life.

reply

LOL, c*** brigade..

Also take into account that Eddie Murphy is very big on improvisation. (Drove Lorne Michaels crazy on SNL) He may have put a lot of those lines in himself while feeling out the scene.
