Why this will never be repeated/released on DVD

I watched this show as a child in the Eighties and it was one of my favourites. Unfortunately I only had it on Betamax, so the tape became archaic quite quickly. I have been waiting for years for a DVD release, but none has been forthcoming. I recently had the good fortune to see it again, and now I think I know why it has remained hidden for so long. The very first scene is a spoof news report about a revolution in Saudi Arabia, and it is full of jokes about Islam, Muslims and the prophet Mohammed. In today's climate jokes about the religion of peace are completely off-limits, ostensibly so no one is offended. (Of course we all know the real reason.) Hence no one would risk releasing this, because the lives of all of the people involved would be placed at risk. Sad but there it is.

It hasn't been re-released because nobody under 25 knows anything about the Cold war era and would think it was boring...trust me, I showed it to my classmates in -98 or something like that when I was 14-15 and nobody understood anything, they thought I was weird for thinking it was funny.

I own a vhs copy I got from a bargain bin in the early 90s. A proud part of my video collection.
