I don't disagree that the first Grumman Goose flew in 1937. Grumman designed and built the Goose in 1936. Some historians use the year of the design and some might use the year that the first prototype flew and some historians use the year that the airplane entered full production. I went with 1936, the year of its design, construction, and prototype flight.
