Gas in the Plane

I never see anyone gas up the goose. Where do they get gas from and how do they pump it in the plane?

Correct me if I’m wrong but once I thought Corky was using a hand crank in a 55 gallon drum pumping fuel. As always I could be wrong. Good observation SA Stone.

You may be right, I just see the plane flying everywhere and never gassing up. I don't have the will to go back and look....

In the episode "The Lady and the Tiger" getting gas for the plane was mentioned:

"CORKY
Then...he'd only have enough fuel to fly straight back here,
unless...

SARAH
Unless what?

CORKY
He filled his tanks at Tortuga Mary's and I told him never to do
that!

LOUIE
Why not?

CORKY
Her fuel drums are rusty, you can get half water in your gas. Jake
wouldn't have done that unless he had to fly to ... to ..."

There are a few other references to fueling the plane, however, I am not sure which episodes:(

Yes, there were several shows where you see Corky using a hand-crank pump to gas the plane. Neat note: in the new DVD of the series, writer-producer Tom Greene does a great commentary (all of them are excellent) for an episode called "Force of Habit". In it, an old flame of Jake's who is now a Nun, steals the plane to go after the China Clipper that has been stolen and has smallpox vaccine in it. Jake gets on his plane just as it takes off and they both fly to chase the other plane. Jake goes on and on about how little fuel they have, and at one point the engines stop in mid-air! Greene explains how he came up wth the idea that they had cases of Rum on the plane, and Jake and Corky (and even the dog Jack!) puts it all in the gas tank through the fuel gauge hose to keep the plane running! Greene said he came up with the idea from remembering when he was a teenager, and one day he and a friend drank too much rum and got sick (he never could drink it again!). His father, who was not a "happy camper" about this and grounded him, looked at the bottle of rum he was drinking and said: "My God, you could fly a plane with this stuff!"

Honor Thy Brother - Corky says he has to top off the Goose before they can take off, he's even shown holding a hose.

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.

Yes, they did show gassing up the plane. You see it in "Cooked Goose", and of course there's a big thing made about it, when the Nun, Jake's old girlfriend steals the plane in go after the big Sea Plane that is carrying medicine for an orphanage, and Jake jumps on the plane just as she is taking off (she used to be a pilot and her father was Jake's flying instructor), and he yells at her, since they are in the sky and he didn't have time to put gas in the plane... but then he renumbers that Corky left a case of Rum in the back, and uses it to fill the gas tank! Actually, doing a fact check... with the kind of rum used in those days... that would work... the engine would run rough... but it would run! That episode, one of the best, was called "Force of Habit".
