Besides, it had a famous homage or parody to it in Robocop with the T.J. Lazer character, who looks like a robot and who casually blows a hole in a bad guy with his laser weapon.
I don't think many people remember T.J. Hooker these days. Maybe I should see if any YouTube clips exist of it?

shareI watched TJH when it was first on. The thing I remembered most was how Hooker and his team would throw their side-handled batons at the feet of fleeing suspects who would immediately trip and fall over. It was like Batman throwing a Batarang! Weirdly, when I watched some reruns a few years ago for the first time since then that didn't happen anywhere near as often as I remembered it happening.
