first time viewer of TJ Hooker

well I was a bit of disapoited by it, yes it's perfectly watchable BUT imo it just isn't on the same level as other 80s shows like all the Steven J. Cannel ( A-Team, Hardcastle and MCcormik, Riptide, Hunter etc) or Glen Larson (Knight Rider, the Fal Guy etc) productions

there isn't as much action as in those (car chasses, explosiotns, shooting) not as much hot chick as guest stars :) , and even the theme and soundtracks aren't that memorable as in those

still it's good enough to have it in your "80" colection , hopefully it gets full digital release

so what is your thoughts

Heather Locklear is nice but I think Heather Thomas from the Fall Guy was hnds down much hotter :D

I respect your opinion, but I really loved all the shows you listed above. Throw in Magnum P.I., Simon & Simon & Dukes of Hazzard and I think that covers th most of the great shows of the 80's. I grew up in the 80's and really grew to love all these shows more with the DVD releases.

T.J. Hooker is a one of my favorite shows of all time. This was really the show that put William Shatner back in the public eye(along with the Star Trek movies). I think he played T.J. Hooker as a hero and good guy who could not be corrupted. He and Ramano had great chemistry.

Heather Locklear was a great addition to the cast. To me, she is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She also had a perfect body when she allowed us to see it. James Darren was also a great addition at the end of Season 2. The four of them worked well together and I really enjoyed the stories and the action. Early on in the series, there was some really good humor during the episodes.

I would suggest watching Season 3, Episode 2 "Carnal Express". It displays Heather Locklear's body during a good part of the story. She goes undercover at the Pleasure Palace and wears a nice revealing outfit for the 1980's. She does a couple a dance routines and looks really nice as she is jiggling back and forth on stage. I wish they would release the rest of the series on DVD. I'm still counting on Shout Factory to save and release another series I love.

You forgot to ention Street Hawk and MacGyver to compelte 80s awesomeness

another fact I disliked on hooker was that fter season 2 they replaced the Dodge Monaco with Dodge St. Regis YET they still continued to reuse footage from earleier seasons with the Monaco , it just become too blatantly that they recylced footage

in he 80s Heather Locklear was also confused with Heather Thomas , suppsoedly John Travolta dated Locklear and tell her how awesome she is on Fall Guy :))

and that's the problem here that you mentioned, Locklear was a bit shy where as Thomas always had some tight jeans and cloths :)))

Yeah Macgyver was a cool show. My brother loved it. I watched it as well. I issed out on Street Hawk. I saw it only ran for 13 episodes. But that does not mean it was not a great show.

I agree with the recycled footage. They did that quite a lot as many shows did back in the day. I'm sure it was done to cut costs.

Although I love everything about Heather Locklear, I really liked Heather Thomas. She has the perfect body to fit in those tiny bikini's on the Fall Guy. Fall Guy was another all time favorite of mine.

Heather Thomas actually guest starred as a prostitute in Episode 4 , Season 4 of Hooker, she is quite more taller than Locklear . I would say Thomas is hotter while Locklear more "cute" but I wouldn't mind to go out with any of them

in that episode also guest starred Deborah Richter , also quite a hottie in the 80s

AND yet again they use some stupid stock footage of the 77 Monaco even in season 4 . I would really like to know if some updated shots with St. Regis would have been really THAT expensive.... ?? you even have scenes with 77 Monaco slowly drivng down a alley which sudently becomes a 79 ST. Regis, serislsly do the show producers realy take us vierwers for such utter idiots???? , it just "cheapens" the show very much, yes in the Fall Guy they often had a Chevy for stunt scenes instead of the GMC but on TJ Hooker we are talking just about some simple driving down a street , NOT some big jump stunt!!!

I feel "T.J. Hooker" is an extention of another Aaron Spelling series "Charlie's Angels", especially the soundtrack, the type of film stock used, and the vibe. Basically, I feel it is a 1980's show with 1970's values.
I liked both Heather Locklear and Heather Thomas (I'd like to throw in Markie Post from "The Fall Guy" also), but I just felt Heather Locklear had an awesome smile, so I'd have to choose her.

anothe rissue with the show is season 5

nearly 95% of all car chases were reused from season 3 and 4 and even 2

guess they had severly slashed budget for this...

reply

Well, it is a cool car.

Heather Locklear guest-starred on Fall Guy, and Heather Thomas guest-starred on T.J. Hooker, so it doesn't help the confusion.

T.J. Hooker was a police drama with action. It focused more on the drama than shows like The A Team, etc.

It was a simplistic show, but the characters were likeable and the show was fun to watch.

It may not hold up as well today in the drama department (NYPD Blue upped the ante big time when it came to drama and writing for cop shows, and shows like The Shield took it in a different direction from there), but T.J. Hooker is still one hell of an entertaining show with a great cast.

And the chemistry between Zmed and Shatner was real. They remained friends even after Zmed left the show and they're still good friends today.
