Still miss this show

I think it is the best of all medical dramas. The writing, the acting and story lines still hold up more than 30 years later.

I came here to post the same thing OP. With all the new medical dramas coming out this fall made me think of how much I missed this show.

I got season one disc one from Netflix. I liked the first few episodes and then I dunno I just got bored with it. I guess I am used to er and the night shift. I was only a year old when this show came out lol. I LOVE the theme song though!

I miss it, too. It's probably my all-time favorite TV drama. The performances, the stories were all first rate. Loved how the writers worked in in-jokes in so many episodes. A couple of years ago I spotted William Daniels and his wife, Bonnie Bartlett, in the audience of a Broadway play. As the play ended and everyone was filing toward the exit doors, I couldn't resist telling him how much I'd enjoyed his performances on St. Elsewhere, Captain Nice (yes, Captain Nice!) and on Broadway in 1776. He smiled and was very gracious.

Great writing, acting, and characters. Plots were topical.

As I alluded to in another post, the show would be perfect if it didn't have Elizabeth Westfall.

I agree, I think it's the best medical drama ever made, 2nd is E.R. of course
