Referencing other roles - anyone catch Elliot's?

One thing the series did that was so cool was how the guest stars casually referenced other roles they were known to play. For example, Tom Poston guest starred and commented that he was a handyman of sorts...referencing his role as handyman George Utley on Newhart.

So...did anyone catch the subtle reference for Elliot, specifically his name?

- Elliot's father was played by veteran comic actor Louis Nye
- Nye had a recurring role on The Beverly Hillbillies as Sonny Drysdale
- Sonny Drysdale was enamoured with Elly Mae Clampett

Elly --> Elliot

Tom Poston played Jack's father, Jim Morrison, same name as the lead singer of the Doors.
Steve Allen and his real-life wife Jayne Meadows played Victor's parents. They explained that Victor's real name was Bernie Orsaransky. His name appears at the end credits as a cameraman or something.
Boston, the Allen's and Nye all appeared together on the Steve Allen Show.

I loved that one of the orderlies was on White Shadow and his character in St. E often wore a Carver High School t-shirt.

I'm not sure if I'm remembering this exactly, but the actor who played Floyd the barber in the Andy Griffith show was a patient, and a nurse asked him if he would like a haircut from the hospital's barber: Floyd...or something close to that.
