im confussed, her name is jessica drew right? but she looks exactly like mary jane, and shes into peter too... and if shes not mary jane, where is mary jane cause i dont remember seeing mary jane on this show. on second tought jessica drew is someone elses name... spiderwoman? am i right?
Jessica Drew is Spider-Woman, she was never actually on the show, but her costume is seen at costume parties in one or two episodes.
As for Firestar, her real name was Angelica Jones and she was an original character created for the show.
The show was going feature Johnny Storm/The Human Torch alongside Spidey & Iceman, but the creators felt that that was too many guys. So instead they combined The Human Torch with Mary Jane and came up with Angelica Jones/Firestar, for the "love interest" angle.
Later, Firestar was added to the Marvel comics universe as a member of the New Warriors. I believe she was added to the NW during the '80s.
wow, thanks... you sure know alot of the show. they stopped airing them a long time ago where i live, so i dont remember much, except that its a really good show.
Alas, there aren't any DVDs (other than bootleg)of Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends.
It used to be on Jetix for a couple of years (give or take), but it was removed during the summer to make way for some other show. Think it was replaced by another Power Rangers show.
As for S & HAF coming out in time for S3 -- haven't heard a thing. The best places to look for that info are ToonZone http://toonzone.net and on TVShowsOnDVD www.tvshowsondvd.com.
The word "alas" is used to express emotions of sorrow, disappointment, or regret. It can be accompanied by an exclamation point, depending on the speaker and how he or she is feeling about something.
The word is a bit old fashioned, but still in use.
In this case, I was expressing some disappointment that yet another TV show that I love is *still* not on DVD yet after all this time, while scores of less worthy shows are released almost immediately, just because they're more current.
It's not that big a deal, but still a bit frustrating.
Actually, Firestar was added to the Marvel Universe as a member of the Hellions, a group of teens similar to the New Mutants, but evil and led by Emma Frost (The White Queen). She later joined the New Warriors and the Avengers.
and angelica jones (firestar) recently quit the hero biz altogether in the marvel universe in CIVIL WAR. But i figure she'll be back as marvel just reissued the 4 part 1986 (er was it 82) mini series of her origin (and how emma frost got a hold of her over xavier). I was asking some comicshop owners at the last convention i went to if they had any of her stuff and they said EVERYONE is asking about her lately. So they figure marvel will bring her back pretty soon. Hopefully with a great story.
as for mj/angie look alike contest. Well a good majority of the marvel gals have red hair so that's not much a surprise: Jean, Mj, Angie, Mystique... uh i know there are more. In comics your either red, blond or jet black haired. Rarely are their brunettes. Kitty Pryde and Rogue being exceptions.
I always thought Fire Star was more Jean Grey than Mary Jane, but yes I love Firestar and I wish they'd bring her back with a deeper stroyline. I hope they dont alter her look, cause I think its perfect.
Folks, I've already explained the MJ/Angelica connection in a previous post on this thread! Please read the entire thread before commenting/asking questions. Not trying to be rude, but I've already gone through this with someone else on here who hadn't bothered to read the post.
My post is from Sept 30, 2006 -- just scroll up. It's a bit frustrating when people don't read what's right in front of them. It's kinda rude, in fact, though I'm sure that no one here meant to be rude or careless. But it keeps happening on every single board I've been to on IMDb and elsewhere. And other people on the boards get annoyed, too.
In addition, I've already mentioned that at one point in Firestar's superheroine career, she joined the Avengers.
I've mentioned the White Queen's attempt at corrupting Anjelica on the X-Men: Evolution board, too.
Again, not trying to be be rude or pick a fight. I just don't understand why people don't try to read previous threads on a board before posting.
Who knows, you may find your answer and not have to waste your time posting.
Please be more considerate of your fellow post-ers!

um not to be rude, but you're the one being rude. what, People can't keep talking about stuff? Do you own this board? so what if people repeated what was said. you don't have to read it. Not to pick a fight but seriously, that came off really pushy.
and like everyone reads EVERYTHING that's on EVERY board. 9 times out of 10 people scan the top and the bottom. The middle gets overlooked. not because it's unimportant, but just cuz folks are in the hurry. no need to chew us out for it. Maybe we enjoy posting.
No, I'm not being rude at all, and I do enjoy posting. It's just that it’s annoying & rude when I -- or anyone -- gets through explaining something (as I've previously said) and a post or two later, the question is repeated (the person having ignored the answer already given).
It wastes space, time, is rude, etc, etc.
How would you like it if there were nothing on a board but the same questions over and over again?
And, most people on IMDb actually do read the entire strings so as to not be repetitive and to find out things, as well as for fun. There are loads of people on IMDb and elsewhere on the Internet who are bothered by this, not just me.

3/17/07: By the way, DarkShamu, which post were you referring to? If you meant my post from Feb. 20, that was some sound advice for all newbies. If you meant my March 13 post, that was just for dannerlc.

Angelica Jones "Firestar" and Bobby Drake "Iceman" rented a room at Peter's home. They also went to the same college together. They were really good friends ,and went crimefighting together. Before Firestar and Iceman were Xmen. Then they joined up with Spiderman "Peter Parker" afterwards.
Anna May, how was that comment not rude? Oh wait that's right you tried to cover it up by realizing you made two comments. Either way it's a free board and folks should be allowed to babble on as long as they like about whatever, even if its just rehashing the same stuff. That's all i'm saying. This is the only thread i've been on where someone has come up and complained that folks were still talking about the topic, even if they were just repeating themselves. Who cares what folks say or do. You don't have to read it, if your sick of repetitive posts, then skip over them, like most folks.
btw, What about the guy who just posted firestar = angelica jones. Why not chase him down and chide him as well? I just find your logic to be a bit off that's all. But that's my opinion and apparently we're not allowed to voice them here, because we might be repeating something.
oh i didn't mean to say they SHOULD hunt ya down topsword lol. Sorry if it came off that way. Just that if someone is going to complain they should complain fairly. Frankly i think you should have to right to post over and over and over the same thing if you want. Doesn't mean we have to read it. Or should read it. So feel free to comment away :)
heh.. it's clear that Angelica's model was based on Mary Jane.. too bad the real MJ never showed up on the show, Pete's attentions were always leaning towards Angelica..

:O one single question opened the doors of a war... and it was all caused by me... :O thank you all for explaiming.. everyone had a valuable point.. but there was no need to get so... whatever you can call what just happened there.. thank you all trully!!
Most is already covered in this thread except that it wasn't too many characters it was due to them not being able to free up the rights to the Human Torch.
Then she went on to appear in the X-Men to help keep his origin making sense then her limited series then everything else everyone said.
not in any issue i've seen, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There's a 4 issue mini with her becoming an x-men. Later she resurfaced as an avenger. I can't remember if it was before after or during that time she was also a memember of the new warriors. She recently left the superhero biz to go back to college, angry over the mess the new registration laws had created.
I was just about to start a thread on this; good thing I saw there already was one.
Yeah, the resemblance is uncanny. The IMDB Trivia section says Firestar's appearance was based on MJ, and when in civilian form she does bear a strong resemblance to the classic MJ design by John Romita. I can't help but wonder if MJ was originally set to appear & then simply had her design recolored due to all the other behind the scenes shenanigans.
