There is ANOTHER 80s Spidey cartoon...

I have a dubbed copy of a Spider-man cartoon from the early 80s that is NOT an episode of 'Spider-man and His Amazing Friends'. The animation is the same, the music and FX are the same, but Firestar and Iceman are missing and Spidey's voice is done by a different actor than the person who did 'S.A.H.A.F.'

The opening credits have similar music, but the spoken portion of the music where the V.O. artist would have said 'Spider-man...AND his Amazing Friends' is CUT-OFF at 'Spider-man'. It sounds like the same 'take' as the one used for 'SAHAF', as the tone of the VO artist's voice sounds like he's ready to say more, but is cut-off.

Anyway, the episode I have features Captain America and the Red Skull, and its pretty cool.

Does anyone remember this ?

Yeah...it was just called Spiderman and was out during the early 80s. It was syndicated and I believe it actually started BEFORE Spiderman and his Amazing Friends. It was pretty good, but I was always an X-Men fan, so I liked seeing Iceman every week.

I grew up watching that show and had episodes on VHS too. When I lived overseas as a kid, they would show both shows on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The solo series was a lot less goofy and used a lot of Spidey villains. I hope it gets released to DVD somewhere soon.

Still got my fingers crossed, waiting for Judas Contract to get green-lit

This series was indeed simply called Spider-Man and was meant to be a continuation of the old 60's Spider-Man cartoon that was very popular in syndication at the time, its also known as a bit of a prequel series to Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends. Unfortunately its the least known of the Spidey cartoons, it also had an on-going story arch that involved Doctor Doom as well as an episode that is almost a carbon copy of the 'Amazing Friends' first episode 'Triumph of the Green Goblin'.

The syndicated series wasn't sold in a lot of markets, so it was one of the least seen of the various Spider-Man cartoon shows. This one was shown on NBC, so it had greater visibility.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!
