Alan Rickman

It was cool to see a young Alan Rickman (Die Hard, Robin Hood, Quigley Down Under, Harry Potter)working behind the hotel desk and reluctantly accept the package from Smiley.

As I recall the conversation goes:

“Hello Sir, How’s Lady Ann?"

SMILEY; She’s very lucky, will you put this in the safe for me?

RICKMAN: I adore the bag. (looking askance) It doesn’t ‘tick’ does it?

SMILEY: Only in wet weather!

This little cameo scene shows the young, urbane, Alan Rickman playing the part of the Savoy man-behind-the-counter. The dialogue is from memory.

I enjoyed the scene the other day when I re-watched the series. Not as interesting as the first one but bits like this make up for it.

It's unfortunate that he passed away.
