Songs censored out?

I just recently got GetTV and have seen a couple episodes of this series on Sundays. (Can't believe they tried to make this show a musical.) Anyway, in today's episode (Dreams), I noticed that during the musical portion, when two of the brothers are playing a "cowboy song," one on piano and the other guitar, we hear the music, but the singing is dubbed out. We can see the characters singing, but hear nothing but the instruments. What's up with that?? Obviously this was about as clean and wholesome a show as you could get (other than the occasional use of something mild like damn), so what possible reason could there be to edit out the song? Maybe the network didn't have the rights to air it? That's the only reason I can think of. But still..... 

Just watched this off my DVR and I'm kind in the same vein. I wonder what the song was that they could not have the lyrics. And the scene just looked ridiculous as it was.

On a side note I am enjoying the series again, I personally have not seen the series since it was originally on in the early 80's and seeing it now sure is a trip back in time. And seeing all the actors before they hit it big is kind of cool. Looking forward to seeing more episodes and hope there not edited of anymore content.

They probably had to dub over the song because they didn’t have copyrights to it anymore and didn’t want to pay. So they dubbed some generic “free” music over whatever the song was.
