Time for a new Police Squad series

Paramount should make a Police Squad sequel show with new characters (set some 20 years after the last Naked Gun movie). It would be a good program to air on Comedy Central.

Good advice

It wouldn't be any good without Leslie Nielson, may he R.I.P.

Great idea! Who would play Frank, though? How about Steve Harvey? He has that deadpan look already. And his comic timing is impeccable.

It just would not fly today, sadly. And I also feel that sort of humour is of it time, its had its day and we have moved on. Humour and tastes have changed a lot. Not to mention the racial and sexist content.

Don't get me wrong, I am just saying that's how it is.

I can happy still watch shows like this, and movies like Naked Gun, Airplane, Blazing Saddles etc. They are movies of their time and should be able to be appreciated in the context of the time in which they were made.

But a new series of Naked Gun? Just can't see it working at all.

A TV series with a similar tone was on cable TV's TBS channel, "Angie Tribeca" 2016–2018. It starred Rashida Jones, Jere Burns, Deon Cole, and Hayes MacArthur and many recognizable guests.

40 episodes can be seen On Demand on TBS, TBS.com and maybe Hulu. The puns and jokes could have easily been done on Police Squad.

Thanks for mentioning Angie Tribeca. I have started watching it and it's pretty funny. Love seeing who pops up as cameos.

Even if the style of humour was still in vogue, I think it would fail because people watch stuff while playing on their phones. There's too much going on in the scenes and needs full attention. It's not a slow-burning type of thing with carefully-placed rises in music between scenes to get the viewer's attention back.
