'Darryl' in the singular and in the plural form

I noticed that when Larry talks about his brothers in the plural form (as in the two of them), he still says 'Darryl' without an S. He never says 'The Darryls and I' or 'the two Darryls and I.' It is always just 'Darryl' which sometimes makes you have to pay close attention to see if he is talking about one of them (and to figure out which one, if it is just one)-- or if he is referring to both of them together.

I like how the writers did this, and it's a wonder that it's not as confusing as it should be.

I loved Larry and the Darryls so much that I think they could've done a spinoff. Loved seeing them in The Bob Newhart Reunion Show. See it if you get a chance.

Yes, I agree. I was just thinking about it yesterday. They were ripe for a spinoff. It would have been a hit, as big as Newhart. I can see the producers waiting until after this series ended, but I suppose that wacky final episode prevented the characters from living on. Though maybe they could have had a Saturday morning cartoon!
