Does anybody remember Larry Bud Melman? Whatever happened to him? I can't find him in any credits for either of Dave's shows.

He's credited under his real name - Calvert DeForest. He's nearly 85 now, so I suspect his health is too poor to allow him to appear on the show any more.

Last time I saw Deforest on Letterman, they had him trying to chug a carton of what I think was egg nog. You could see he was choking and coughing at the end as he shuffled off the stage.

My favorite moment of Larry Bud was when dave put him in a cab to see how long it would take to take the cab around the block. Sean Young was the guest and she agreed to hop in the cab with Larry Bud. Larry Bud sees Sean and says, "Hello Sean" and Dave made it seem that Larry Bud was getting fresh with Sean

One funny moment was when they told the audience there was a mystery guest. They kept giving clues like it was Jack Nicholson. They audience was getting worked up. Finally they revealed Larry Bud Melman. I believe that was the early years of the Late Show though.
