The music of KNIGHT RIDER....

There is some fantastic music from the KNIGHT RIDER soundtrack out there on YouTube.

The show really owes a lot to its 2 composers - Stu Phillips and Don Peake. Half the show's greatness was its awesome music!

Stu Phillips scored the show during most of its first season and is basically responsible for the origin of the KNIGHT RIDER sound as well as creating the show's legendary theme song. Even as a kid watching the show in reruns in the 90s I noticed that there was something different (and really cool) about the music during the show's first season when compared to the other seasons. It's hard to put it into words but it just had this really cool sound to it.

I liked the later music by Don Peake also (who scored seasons 2-4) -- it was definitely more synth-heavy than Stu's and certainly more 80s. But it was a logical progression as we got deeper into the 80s. Still, there was something magical and original about Stu's music. But again, Don's was good too - but more modern-sounding.

Yes, I think all those are on YouTube.

But it's quite pricey to purchase.

My favorite music is in the brilliant episode, 'Trust Doesn't Rust', the unique K.A.R.R. theme you never hear anywhere else.

A lot of the later music was just 'Simmons drums' combined with some 'easily-played, simple synth jingles'. I prefer the episodes with real music.

The atmosphere, elevated by the incredible music, of "Trust Doesn't Rust" is really amazing and brilliant.
