Veteran of nine 'Comic Strips', Danny Peacock might well be the unsung figure of British TV. Teenage Health Freak (1991) - co-written with Lise Mayer (of The Young Ones and The Fast Show fame) - and Harry and Cosh (2002) were two of the most original, witty and refreshingly bonkers examples of 'Teen TV' this country's produced. The sooner they both get the DVD treatment, the better. The fact that the delectable Liza Walker starred in the former, and the edible Lucinda Rhodes-Flaherty in the latter didn't hurt. Oh, and then there was Stacey Cadman in Cavegirl (2002). I digress. The point is, Peacock's scripts for all these shows tower over much of the latterday material from Richens and Richardson.

Peacock also co-wrote and starred in the comedy feature, Party Party (1983), which featured Caroline Quentin and the late Gary 'The Yob' Olsen among the cast:

I loved him in the Comic Strip. Plus, in The Supergrass, you get to see his bum

He's a great comic actor. I thought he was funny as fook in the one episode of Only Fools And Horses he appeared in as well as the Comic Strip films he did. His dad is on Vicar Of Dibley. You know? the No, no, no, no, no, no...Yes! man.

I've seen Harry And Cosh and Cavegirl and had no idea that he was the creator of those shows. To be honest i found those two shows to be quite poor.

I ADORE DANIEL PEACOCK. I thought I was the only one!!!! He just stands out somehow.

I only really know him from the Comic Strip, where I treasure his raw, urgent performances. He is particularly remarkable in "Les Dogs" and "Beat Generation".

I've kept an eye out for him, but he appears so rarely. I recenly caught him on some old Kenny Everett shows, and in an Alas Smith & Jones sketch. I can never figure out why in heck he wasn't on The Young Ones at some point - he'd have been perfect.

He is in fact in The Young Ones, in the episode Nasty in the scene with Mark Arden & Steve Frost.

That was him in Nasty? I'll have to go back and look again. I thought it was that other guy, the annoying one who said "You won't catch me with me trousers!".

I just saw both series of Teenage Health Freak, and I'm blown away! Such a smart, involving, funny, interesting show. Great direction and acting, as well as writing. I want to read the book!

I don't care for Party Party though. Found it heavily cliched and uninvolving.

Don't forget 'Sister Said' - a most strange show on Channel 5 in the late 90s about a fledgling girl group - kinda like the Spice Girls crossed with the Monkees crossed with a bucket of *beep*

He's brilliant in Teenage Health Freak though - and don't forget his appearance in Quadrophenia!
