in todays world it wouldnt have gotten to season 2

low ratings nowadays equal goodbye!

reply

Yeah, I was watching a documentary a few days ago and I think they said it was the lowest rated sitcom on tv that first year. Or very close to it.

reply

yep was last overall

crazy

reply

I read somewhere that the set was insanely expensive to build. It broke into different parts for different camera angles. Perhaps they used that as an excuse to continue it another year.

reply

I heard it was because the president on NBC loved the show and found it funny

reply

In today's world MeToo would have been picketing the first episode.

reply

no kidding, and lack of diversity. any show prior to the woke movement would have been cancelled.

even Seinfeld had low ratings in the first 2 seasons.

reply

It would on CW all their shows rate poorly. It would just have a very "diverse" cast where they talk about politics all day long. A bar would actually be the perfect vehicle for what CW like to do actually.

reply

I agree. Im first time watching series and I'm in season 5. I'm tired of the Sam & Diane crap. Way too much. Glad she's going to end soon. Its the worst part of the show by now. I get it, but at what point did they emphasize and drag it out 4 seasons too long.

reply

after you finish show let us know your thoughts

reply

Will try to remember to, will be awhile. Work alot, but i try to get a couple episodes in per day, if possible.

I wasn't clear in my first message, but i do enjoy the show. Just not the Sam/Diane crap. Its beyond old & drawn out.

Idk if my opinion will change for the good or bad. Diane is about to leave and Kirstie Alley about to join. I'm not a big fan of her. I don't hate her, im just not as big on her as most people are/were.

reply

it's for sure a different show when Kirstie joins

reply

the Kirstie Alley seasons are much better than the Diane seasons. I think the show got remarkable better in season 6.

most of the episodes past S6 are "Seinfeldesque" I think you will enjoy it.

reply

I will say the kirstie alley episodes are a slight upgrade over the diane ones. I don't find alley nearly as attractive as most people seem to place her as and im not a big fan of her acting much either. But the entire Diane/Sam story line was too much that it became irritating and awful. Im in season 10 now. Im getting there, lol. Might not get to finish, looks like Hulu is dropping show soon. Im guessing at end of month. Idk though

reply

peacock has it

reply

I ended up finishing it on hulu. Thx though

reply

whatd you think of last few seasons

reply

It was ok. Slowly getting worse. But mostly from me not liking the direction of the story

reply

Economically they need their eyesnon Australia right now.
