I didn't even know this show was even on this tv until now, jan 25th at 12 am ct. Wish I knew this. Meg was one of 3 women that played cagney. 2nd one was loretta swift. I don't remember meg or loretta playing her till I was watching it when hulu was free. Now I know its on I'll be watching it.

Just a minor correction: Loretta Swit played Cagney in the original movie. Meg Foster played the first Cagney in TV series, and then after 6 episodes, Sharon Gless starred as Cagney for the remainder of the series. Let's all enjoy this outstanding series again!!

It has held up pretty well. The two leads are interesting distinct characters on their own, and have great chemistry together.

It's actually an interesting story about who the producers wanted. The creators after the television movie aired and the show was picked up by CBS. The Barbara's wanted Sharon Gless to play Christine Cagney but unfortunately, she was under a studio contract with Universal (one of the last actresses under the contract system) and was unavailable. So, they hired Meg but between the original first season while the series was on hiatus Sharon Gless was no longer under contract so they grabbed her and signed her to the show. I always felt bad on how they treated Meg. I didn't think she had the same chemistry that Sharon had with Tyne. I'm not sure the series wouldn't have lasted as long. But, I still think it was crappy in how the creators and producers handled the situation.
